Every single year, deserving all-stars have to be left off the teams due to the requirements imposed by MLB when filling the rosters.

Baseball history is replete with phenoms who look like "can't miss" all-stars the first time around the league. But reality catches up quickly to most the second and third times through. If Strasburg is truly an all-star, his time will come. But not this year.

Actually, I'd prefer to know that a medical "professional" had the emotional maturity of a teenager, with all apologies to teenagers. I guess there are nuts in every profession.

Mr. Celizic is essentially correct when he makes the claim that Tiger, or any other sports/music/movie/misc personality, is interesting only when he/she is doing the job... ie, entertaining couch potatoes.

Anyone who exposes flaws and inconsistencies in ANY system should be at least thanked, if not rewarded. That's how things get better. Attempting to silence or suppress altogether those who shine a light into dark corners is just not logical.

It would be silly for the Secret Service or any other government agency to pursue criminal complaints against the gate-crashing couple simply for making the Secret Service look foolish. If anything, the couple should be congratulated for exposing serious flaws in the screening process.

If "pay for performance" is truly anything more than a catchy slogan, then U.S. companies teetering on the brink of insolvency and lining up for public bailout money, should be more than willing to cut or limit the compensation of the executives who brought them to these dire straits.
